Lagos Council has approved a proposal urging the government to abolish tolls on the A22 motorway (also known as Via do Infante).
The local authority says the tolls, which were implemented 10 years ago, have slowed the Algarve’s development, increased the number of accidents due to increased traffic on other roads, affected the competitiveness of local companies and consequently contributed to the impoverishment of the region’s population.
The proposal also calls for the renovation of the only alternative, the EN125 road.
