A voucher scheme which aims to encourage people to “shop locally” has been unveiled in Lagos.
Running from December 1 to January 5, the programme will give shoppers an opportunity to win €100 vouchers. A coupon will be handed to shoppers for every €10 they spend at local stores, up to a total of 15 coupons per receipt.
Participating shops will have stickers on their windows and red carpets at the entrance.
The coupons must then be filled out and put into a tombola at the Lagos tourism office, in the old town hall building. The winning coupons will be drawn on January 6.
The initiative, named ‘Natal no Comércio Local 2021’, is organised by Lagos Council which granted €7,500 to regional business association (ACRAL) to help promote it.
Businesses interested in taking part need only contact ACRAL and decorate their shop window accordingly.
