Lagoa prepares for first wine show

Lagoa is getting ready to host the first ‘Lagoa Wine Show’, which will take place between April 2 and 4 at the Centro de Congressos do Arade in Parchal.

Designed to promote the borough as a “wine region of excellence”, the event will also attract wine producers from all over the country and feature everything from tastings to debates, lectures and musical entertainment.

For €5, visitors will be provided with a wine glass and be able to “taste the best wines of Portugal”.

Besides the wine tastings, there will be cooking shows by Chef Augusto Lima, while the concert programme includes performances by Portuguese singer Áurea on April 2, Fado singer Ana Moura on April 3 and singer-songwriter Pedro Abrunhosa and DJ Poppy on April 4. Tickets for the concerts cost €10 (not including the €5 ticket for the Wine Show).

Organised by Lagoa council and the Algarve Wine Route (Rota dos Vinhos do Algarve), the event is being marketed as “one of the biggest wine exhibitions of the south of Portugal”.

It is only one of the wine-related events included in Lagoa’s events programme for 2015.

The borough’s summer fair Fatacil, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country, will also be focused on wine this year.
