“Festa do Tango” will include a dance workshop and concert by the “Tango Spleen Orquesta”.
The “Festa do Tango” is back in Lagoa for another day dedicated to tango. This year, the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium will receive the “Tango Spleen Orquesta”, on May 27, at 21:00. On the same day, at 16:00, there will be an Argentine Tango Workshop free of charge with the purchase of a ticket for the “Tango Spleen Orquesta” show, and limited to 20 participants.
Workshop participants must purchase a ticket for the show and register online here, through the form available at the Auditório Carlos do Carmo, Centro Cultural Convento de S. José or by email: [email protected]
Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the workshop, ladies are advised to bring high heels and gentlemen to wear classic shoes.
At the end of the show, at 22:30, the “Tango Spleen Orquesta” will invite the public to participate in a Milonga.
Tickets for this show cost €10 (20% discount with cultural passport, Lagoa Social card, or Rota do Petisco Passport 2022, available at the Municipality of Lagoa ticket offices). Synopsis: Tango Spleen Orquesta is an elegant tango project led by Argentine singer, pianist and composer Mariano Speranza. Based in Milan (Italy), this tango group presents a show composed of classic tango covers and their own compositions.
The orchestra has performed more than 800 times in two dozen countries and has already published five records: Tango Spleen 2010, Tipico 2012, Canto para Seguir 2015, Contatto 2018 and Vamos a la Distancia 2021.
World-renowned Argentine tenor Marcelo Álvarez invited Tango Spleen Orquesta to his tango recital for two memorable performances at the Teatro Ópera Novaya in Moscow (Russia) and at the Teatro Broad Stage in Santa Monica (USA).
In 2021, the original tango “Fotos Viejas” from their fourth album Contatto was selected for the soundtrack of the film “Histoire d’amour sans titre”, produced by the Sugarkane Studio for GUCCI.
Currently, Tango Spleen is one of the most requested tango orchestras for international tango festivals: Tarbes, Toulouse, Turin, Edinburgh, Bordeaux, Bielefeld, Blackpool, Odessa, Trieste, Innsbruck, Flensburg, Aix les Bains, Trani, among others.
