Some of the best up-and-coming handball players are in the Algarve this week for the ‘Torneio Internacional de Lagoa’, a friendly youth tournament which will take place from Thursday to Saturday (April 27 and 29) in Lagoa.
The tournament will bring together the U19 men’s national teams from four countries: Portugal, Spain, Austria and Norway.
The Portuguese national team will use the tournament as an opportunity to prepare for the IHF Men’s Youth World Championships, which will be held in Varaždin, Croatia between August 2 and 13 and will pitch Portugal against Algeria, Croatia and Rwanda.
Portugal played two matches against Hungary in preparation for the World Championship last month in Celorico de Basto, winning one and losing another.
The tournament in Lagoa will be played at the Pavilhão Desportivo Municipal Jacinto Correia and all matches are free to attend.
