Young dancers from all over the world will be competing at the Grand Jeté International Dance Awards, which will be held in Lagoa on July 23 and 24.
According to organisers, the event “aims to support and develop world class dancers – aged six to 25 and of all economic, ethnic and geographic backgrounds – by providing them with performance and education opportunities and scholarships for prestigious dance institutions”.
The goal is also “to showcase their talent and connect students, teachers, dance schools, companies, dancers and audiences”.
Taking place at the Carlos do Carmo auditorium in Lagoa, the event will feature a morning and an afternoon competition on Tuesday, starting at 10.30am and 2.30pm, and a morning competition the following day also at 10.30am. Tickets for each competition cost €3.
Several workshops will be held on Wednesday afternoon before the closing gala is held at 8pm, with tickets costing €10.
