Lagoa hosts first Algarve Brass Forum

A new event entitled Algarve Brass Forum will take place at the Lagoa auditorium on October 9-10, featuring a number of concerts, conferences and jam sessions.

Organised by the Algarve Jazz Orchestra under the auspices of renowned trumpeter Hugo Alves, the event plans to be a “meeting point for professional and amateur musicians, students, brass instrument enthusiasts and music fans in general”.

The forum will be divided into three periods, with conferences and concerts taking place in the morning and afternoon and the headlining concerts and jam sessions being held at night.

On Friday, the headlining concerts include performances by the Kevin Wauldron Ensemble, as well as a trio including Javier Ortí (saxophone), Lars Arens and Luís Cunha (trombone).

The following day will feature a performance by Portugal’s “most renowned clarinettists” António Saiote and a tuba trio with Sérgio Carolino, Mário Marques and Jorge Queijo.

Admission is free except for the headlining concerts that cost €12 and will take place on both days between 9pm and 11.30pm. Jam sessions will be held after the performances.

The full programme will be published soon on the event’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/algarvebrassforum
