Lagoa hosts Algarve Wine Contest

The Algarve’s ninth Wine Contest will take place at the São José Convent in Lagoa on April 9 (Saturday), organised by the region’s wine commission (CVA).

Around 20 winemakers are expected to take part in a ‘blind tasting test’, evaluating over 90 of the region’s reds, whites and rosés.

Favourites will be given bronze, silver and gold medals, while the wine the jury considers the absolute best will receive a grand gold medal.

All the awards will be handed out at this year’s FATACIL event.

“Our mission is to consolidate the image of Algarve wine, and initiatives like this one prove that the region’s investment in winemaking is paying off,” said Carlos Gracias, president of CVA.
