A number of local and national choir groups will be taking part in the 17th Lagoa Choir Week, scheduled between May 16 and 23.
Organised by cultural association Ideias do Levante in collaboration with the local council, the event is described as a “week in which many voices from different places come together in an eventful agenda of harmony and melody”.
This year, the choir week will feature four groups – Coro Gregoriano de Lisboa, Grupo Coral dos “Loureiros” (Palmela), Grupo Coral da Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense (Silves) and, of course, the local Coral Ideias do Levante.
The first concert will be held on May 16 at the S. José convent in Lagoa, followed by a vocal technique workshop on May 17 at Ideias do Levante’s base nearby.
Later that day, the Lisbon choir Coro Gregoriano will perform at Estômbar’s local church, starting at 5pm.
Next up is Coral Ideias do Levante, with a concert scheduled for May 20, starting at 9.30pm at the Centro Pastoral e Social de Ferragudo.
Finally, on May 23, the Silves and Palmeira choirs will be joining Coral Ideias do Levante for the closing concert at Lagoa’s municipal auditorium, starting at 5pm.
