Lagoa’s municipal holiday (Friday, September 8) is going to be celebrated with a busy programme of cultural and religious events.
Festivities begin on Friday, September 1 with a ‘New Generation of Algarve Fado’ show at the municipal auditorium at 9.30pm.
The following day (Saturday) an art exhibition entitled “Three figures of religious faith in Lagoa” will be inaugurated at the São José Convent at 5.30pm.
Celebrations continue on Thursday (September 7) with the opening of the exhibition ‘Adega Cooperativa de Lagoa, origins and ascension’ at the municipal archives, followed by the reopening of the revamped municipal library on Friday (September 8) at 2.30pm.
Other highlights include a performance by Portuguese singer Marco Paulo in front of the local church on September 8 at 10pm, the Islamic heritage event ‘Encontros de Ibn’Ammar’ on September 9-10 in Estômbar, and the procession throughout Lagoa’s streets on September 8 at 10pm.
