Lagoa Council handed over three new all-terrain vehicles to Lagoa-Carvoeiro GNR, representing an investment by the council of €90,000. Two of them will be stationed in Lagoa and the other in Carvoeiro.

“Without vehicles, the GNR police cannot efficiently do their job,” Lagoa Mayor Luís Encarnação told Correio da Manhã tabloid, adding that each police station only had “one operational vehicle” at its disposal.

Encarnação explained that the council purchased the three vehicles after speaking with “local GNR chiefs” to understand their needs and added that the police force will “certainly put the vehicles to good use” and improve patrols in the municipality.

The council had already donated three motorcycles to the local GNR a year ago.

Alcoutim also donated an all-terrain vehicle to its local GNR in September last year (click here).
