Several outdoor concerts and plays are taking place in Lagoa until September 5 in an attempt to bring “culture to the municipality’s streets” this summer, at a time when event organisers everywhere are trying to find new ways to keep people entertained without putting them at risk.
All shows will follow safety and hygiene recommendations and wearing a mask and following rules will be mandatory, organisers say.
This Thursday (August 13), Ondina Santos and Vítor Talhadas will be presenting their musical project “Vinte & Dois” at Porches’ church at 9pm, while the Algarve Jazz Orchestra will be paying homage to Frank Sinatra at Fatacil in Lagoa on Saturday.
Other highlights include a performance by Wanda Stuart who will bring the best music of the 80s to Fatacil next Thursday (August 20), a live show by popular cover band 5EX at the Calvário amphitheatre on August 27 and a performance by Ricardo Sousa, the winner of the 1999 edition of Portugal’s singing competition ‘Chuva de Estrelas’, and his band at the Carvoeiro amphitheatre on August 28.
Tickets cost between €2 and €5 and can be purchased online at www.ticketline.pt. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity which will be selected in a draw to be held on September 5.
