Dear Editor,
I have recently returned from a week in the Algarve as I do every year. The police are always scarce but on this latest visit (August 8 to 15), I noticed only one police officer driving a jeep. On our daily and nightly trips around the marina in Vilamoura, we did not see one police officer. It is no wonder muggings and break-ins are so frequent. I have been a victim myself.
