Lacerda Quartet to perform in Tavira

A classical music concert by the Lacerda Quartet is being performed on Sunday, February 26 at the Quintinha da Música, near Tavira, at 5pm.

The Lacerda Quartet was founded in 1990 and is one of the leading string quartets of Portugal. Besides its standard repertoire, with a special emphasis on Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, the Lacerda dedicates much of its attention to great and unjustly neglected masterpieces from the Portuguese repertoire.

They have performed in many of the major festivals and venues in Portugal, as well as in Spain, France, Italy, England and even China.

On March 2, the Lacerda will be performing live for Antena 2 an all Haydn programme. A further project of note will be during this coming Easter when the quartet will be joined by the famous Portuguese actor Luís Miguel Cintra in Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words”. These performances will take place in Lisbon, Braga, Porto and Batalha.

By far the most ambitious project of the Lacerda Quartet is their long-term objective. They plan to have recorded all 69 of Joseph Haydn’s string quartets by 2032, which will be the tercentenary of the birth of this great composer.

Tickets cost €25 per person.
