THE RESIDENT published an article in the May 11 issue informing readers that the Algarve Health Authority has published a document in English on its website outlining healthcare rights for British residents in Portugal.
We received several letters from readers who were unable to find the article mentioned when navigating the website which is in Portuguese, so here are some instructions to help readers locate the information:
1. The title of the website article is ARS Algarve informa cidadãos britânicos sobre direitos de tratamento médico and the article is still on the front page of the website, although this week it is lower down the page and shows just the first paragraph. To locate it, scroll down using the arrow bar on the right hand side of your screen. When you locate the article click on the field at the bottom which says “ler mais” (read more). You will then have the full article in front of you and at the bottom you will see links to two document files. One of them is clearly titled in English “Advice to British Nationals”.
2. If by the time you read these instructions the article is no longer on the front page of the website, you can still access the article in the archive section. You can do this by clicking on the Notícias button on the Menu Principal list on the left hand side of your screen. Next you should select Destaques, which will bring up a list of all the articles published on the website in date order. You will find the article about healthcare rights for British nationals under “Mai 2”, entitled ARS Algarve informa cidadãos britânicos sobre direitos de tratamento médico. All you need to do is click on this title and it will bring up the article with the attached documents already mentioned.
