KITE SURFING has been banned by the navy in the Ria Formosa Natural Park because of complaints from boat owners.
The Commander of Faro port said: “The ruling will stay in place until there is a meeting with the Ria Formosa Natural Park officials so that specific areas are marked out for this sport.” He added that the prohibition was a result of kite surfers not obeying the rules in the water.
“We have received many complaints about kite surfers from leisure boat owners,” he said.
