The tragic story of a fatal attack by a goat in Abrantes (click here) has taken even further twists and turns today. With the goat now successfully removed from its owner (who seemed to have no means to secure it) and living temporarily in a fenced private property, reports have emerged to suggest that his victim – 80 year old Maria Rosa Silvestre – may have died after receiving the wrong blood type when in hospital. An inquiry into this possibility is now ongoing, while there seems no doubt that the woman’s injuries were substantial. Correio da Manhã today reports that she had a perforated lung and broken back. As the paper reported recently, this was not the first time the goat had attacked people in the rural community of Pego, nor the last (click here).
