Keane delight fans

Bringing a new kind of audience to the Algarve’s International Autodrome, hundreds of music fans made their way to Mexilhoeira Grande, near Portimão, for a concert which proved to deserve all the anticipated hype.

With the Portuguese band Blind Zero warming up the large crowd from 9.30pm, hundreds more people continued to arrive to watch the internationally renowned British band Keane.

Originally from East Sussex, the group played all of their main hits over the course of an hour-and-a-half, including Bend & Break, We Might As Well Be Strangers, Silenced By The Night and Everybody’s Changing.

Ending their set just before half-past midnight, the band left the stage to the sound of a screaming crowd asking for “one more”. Fortunately for all, Keane did not disappoint, and returned to perform a further three songs, including two of their most popular hits Sovereign Light Café and Crystal Ball to end the show.

Those who weren’t ready to call it a night were able to carry on to Meo Spot at Portimão Marina for the official “after-party”, sponsored by Continente. Review by JOANA ALCOCK
