Karting ‘Olympics’

The state-of-the-art AIA karting track at the Portimão Motor Park is hosting the ‘SuperMoto of Nations’ race this weekend. Following last year’s staging of the popular sport’s World Championships, the Algarve is again the venue for one of kart racing’s most important international events. On Saturday (tomorrow) and Sunday, the recently completed circuit welcomes top pilots representing more than 20 countries from all over the world seeking to claim one of the podium positions in their national colours. In recent years, the ‘SuperMoto of Nations’ has been dominated by France and Italy with three and two victories to their name respectively, a duopoly only interrupted by Germany in 2010. This year, Portugal will be hoping that home advantage can swing the balance in its favour. Tickets priced at only €5 can be purchased on the day at the race track box office.
