Justice minister must resign, says Syndicate of Officials of Justice

Opposition leader Rui Rio quipped recently when Minister of Justice Francisca Van Dunem was handed the top job at a second ministry (that of Interior Administration) that she would do ‘nothing’ there as “she has done nothing at the Justice Ministry” – and this week the syndicate of officials of Justice seems to be agreeing with him. It is calling for her resignation (30 days before the country goes to the polls), citing not only her “inaction” but her attitude towards staff over leave for Christmas and New Year. Ms Van Dunem has already said she will be leaving government whatever the election result.
