Children from the Algarve Juniors are putting the finishing touches to their annual show on June 19 at the International School São Lourenço.
The group of 20 children aged between five and 13 years old have been rehearsing since January and have put together a programme of 14 different numbers, with all the children contributing to ideas for the choreography songs and staging of the show entitled This Is It!
The show includes all aspects of the performing arts, including singing, dance, poetry, presenting and role play and is based on the life and works of the late Michael Jackson.
Organiser Heavenli Denton said: “I have been impressed with the level of professionalism of the children and, after having performed at various events throughout the Algarve over Christmas and last year, they are now much more relaxed on stage.”
She added: “It is truly wonderful to have experienced the children grow and develop their young stage skills.”
The show by the Algarve Juniors will be taking place at the school from 6pm, with tickets costing €10 for adults and €5 for children over five years old.
A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the International School São Lourenço with the remainder being used to buy new microphones and costumes for the group to use in future productions.
