Young riders both from and visiting the Algarve took part in a gymkhana on July 24 at the Pinetrees Riding Centre in Almancil.
During the event, which involved riders from Finland, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, England and Scotland, rosettes were awarded to the best riders of the day while money was also raised for the local charity Riding for the Disabled in the Algarve.
Pru Clayton Mead from the Equusorique centre was the judge for the day with rosettes being awarded in various categories and prizes provided by various sponsors including Equusorique, Eki Loulé, Casa Louart, Teresa’s Pottery and Juncalinho Restaurant.
Madalena Gomes riding Teddy won the walk and trot category on the lead rein in Class 1 while Pilar Sena on Alinta won the walk and trot off the rein in Class 2 and Louisa Ridsdale on Spike was the Class 3 winner.
In the advanced class Alice Gonçalves on Segredo won the first prize beating Charlotte Roth from Germany by just half a point.
During the event, €100 was raised for Riding for the Disabled in the Algarve.
