The Algarve’s most delicious sweets can be found this weekend at Lagos’ Arte Doce event, running from Friday to Sunday.
Taking place at the municipal sports complex, Arte Doce is both a delicious show of cultural heritage and a competition.
Dozens of local confectioners take part every year, showcasing their most mouth-watering creations while vying also for various prizes.
A selection of regional products and handicrafts will be on sale, and the event also includes a musical programme taking visitors into the evenings.
Acts include Portuguese pop star David Carreira (Friday), Cuca Roseta and the Algarve’s Wind Orchestra (Saturday) and singer André Sardet (Sunday).
Also planned are daily cooking workshops, the first of which takes place on Friday at 9pm, with the others starting half-an-hour earlier, at 8.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Doors open every day at 6pm and close at midnight, with musical performances scheduled for 10pm.
Admission is free.
