Judicial questioning of former mayor of Funchal ‘abandoned’ after three days

Judicial questioning of former mayor of Funchal Pedro Calado has been abandoned after three days, due to the defendant’s state of exhaustion, say reports today – over two weeks since Calado and Madeiran businessmen Avelino Farinha and Custódio Correia were arrested in a judicial swoop on the regional archipelago which has left its government in tatters. It is understood that the judge overseeing defendants’ questioning may now move forwards to deciding bail measures.
