RESPECTED PORTUGUESE journalist, Paulo Lavadinho, has set up Tele 7, a TV production company with offices in Gambelas, Faro, with the aim of creating a dedicated regional television channel for the Algarve.
The project is well underway and talks are currently in progress to secure a distributor to broadcast the channel. “We are presenting the project to TV Cabo and are awaiting an answer,” says Lavadinho.
The proposed station will have between 20 and 25 staff, seven of which have already been recruited. The investment amount is still being defined. “I could create a channel with between 700,000 and one million euros, but it could be less. We are being very meticulous with our research,” he says.
Paulo Lavadinho believes there is a market for a regional TV channel, offering daily news bulletins and thematic debates. The journalist, who has worked for Radio Renascença and RTP, hopes to have the station broadcasting in 2007.
