José Sócrates’ new book has barely sold 500 copies

Entitled “Só Agora Começou” (‘it has only just started’) – the former Socialist leader’s ‘response’ to years in the cold and under suspicion of corruption – is “not on the list of Portugal’s most popular 100 books”, writes Jornal Económico. Indeed it has not even sold 500 copies since being launched almost a month ago. The online recalls that part of the evidence against Mr Sócrates in the tortuous Marquês case which fell apart recently (click here) was that he himself bought up 6,700 copies of his previous book “A Confiança no Mundo”.
