Following the resignation of Abel Xavier, SC Farense moved quickly to re-appoint Jorge Paixão who was manager during the 2013/2014 season.
Since then the 50-year-old coach has been in charge at SC Braga, Zawisza Bydgoszcz (Poland) and SC Olhanense.
The club has also released 10 players – Rui Duarte, Neca, Lameirão, Hugo Luz, Carlitos, Já Karamatic, Kiki Ballack, Califo, Bruno Carvalho and Bruno Gonzalez – as they endeavour to recruit younger players in an effort to improve on last season’s mid-table finish in the Segunda Liga.
