Monday April 26 sees the start of the roll-out in Portugal of the ‘game changing’ one-shot Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen vaccine. Over 31,000 doses of the vaccine have been in storage in Portugal while the controversy over ‘clotting issues’ was evaluated by regulators. Administration of this vaccine will help the country reach its objective of having 70% of the population vaccinated by the summer, assures vaccine programme coordinator Henrique Gouveia e Melo whose target of performing 100,000 vaccinations a day is well on track.
