John Aldridge supports special needs people

On one of his regular visits to Boavista Golf (Lagos), former Liverpool star John Aldridge took the opportunity to present a cheque amounting to €8,500 to support local special needs school NECI. The money was raised at his charity tournament at the end of last year at Boavista Golf.

Sporting a field of 132 golfers from the UK, Ireland and Portugal, the John Aldridge Charity Classic proved once again to be a great success. Brought back to Boavista Golf in 2011, the event has grown each year, with 2014 reaching record numbers in both players and money raised.

The John Aldridge Charity Classic supports children’s charities in the UK, Ireland and Portugal.

NECI, located in Praia da Luz, works to improve the quality of life of children and adults with various disabilities and with social and economic difficulties to integrate into the community. Receiving the cheque was the school’s president Dr. João Silva.

For players interested in participating in future tournaments, the next one will be held on October 9 and 10 at Boavista Golf.
