Madeiran businessman Joe Berardo has failed in his attempt to shake-off a €5 million bail surety, and remains unable to leave the country. As reports today explain, a ruling by the Appeals Court has confirmed that Mr Berardo remains a flight risk. He is however allowed to contact lawyer André Luiz Gomes, another official suspect in the probe that see both cited for crimes of qualified fraud, aggravated fiscal fraud, money-laundering, falsification of documents, IT falsification and embezzlement.
