Joana Schenker back to winning ways on National Bodyboard Circuit

The Algarvean athlete now occupies the second place on the national ranking.

Joana Schenker won the 3rd stage of the National Bodyboard Open 2023 Circuit hosted last weekend (September 2 and 3) at Praia Grande in Sintra.

Algarve athlete, who had started the 2023 competitive year in 2nd place at the 1st stage of the Circuit, says she is “satisfied” with the victory, now placing her in second place in the national ranking.

However, she relativized its importance in a season where the World Tour is her main priority.

“I’m very happy to win here today because I didn’t have a lot of pressure. I don’t know if I’ll do the whole circuit, but it’s good to win because the National is a very competitive circuit, and I always feel the need to show something. I don’t even know why. The truth is that, psychologically, the National ends up being more complicated than the World Cup itself, so I’m happy,” she said.

With the world tour as her main objective, she admitted, “I would like to renew the title of National Champion, but unfortunately, the 4th stage of the National Championship coincides with the last stage of the World Tour in Morocco, and I cannot be in two places at the same time.”

The circuit now heads to Matosinhos for the 4th stage of the National Bodyboard Circuit.
