Jihadi boxer “tried to use Portugal” to go and fight for Islamic State

An English boxing champion who wanted to fight for Islamic State was planning to use false Portuguese papers to dupe authorities into letting him into Syria, London’s Old Bailey has heard.

Anthony Small ,33, ended up being arrested after two friends were found hiding in the back of a truck, supposedly on the way to Syria.

The friends ratted on Small, who is described as having converted to Islam nine years ago.

All three men are currently on trial charged with preparation of terrorist acts, dissemination of terrorist material, supporting a proscribed organization and conspiracy to possess false identity documents.
