The Jewish Community of Porto has suspended the certification of Sephardic Jews, following the mounting controversy which saw Rabbi David Litvak arrested as he attempted to leave Portugal by plane from Porto’s Sá Carneiro Airport last week. Expresso says the community insists it received only €250 from Roman Abramovich, the Russian oligarch whose naturalisation as a Portuguese citizen has caused so much media interest.
