Jerónimo Martins inaugurates distribution centre in Algoz

Supermarket group Jerónimo Martins, owner of the Pingo Doce chain, will be inaugurating a distribution centre in Algoz (Silves) this Thursday (February 13).
The new infra-structure, representing a €27 million investment, will start supplying the Pingo Doce/Recheio supermarkets throughout the Algarve as well as parts of the Alentejo, and will be the seventh that the group opens in mainland Portugal.
During the ceremony, the group will show the workings of modern distribution by mapping the journey of the Algarve orange all the way from its tree to the supermarket.
Silves mayor Rosa Palma will be taking part in the event, along with a number of other local dignitaries. The distribution centre is expected to create 130 direct jobs.
