PCP communist leader Jerónimo Sousa has defended the end of economic sanctions against Russia, Venezuela and Iran, on the basis that they ‘aggravate the living conditions of the Portuguese people”, and have resulted in crippling increases in the price of fossil fuels. His appeal has barely been carried by the national press, appearing only in a little fudge box at the bottom of a page back page in Correio da Manhã today. The PCP has already shot itself in both feet over the Russia/ Ukraine conflict.
