Three Spanish women were “seriously injured” after the jeep they were travelling in veered off the road and plummeted from the International Guadiana Bridge, crashing onto the river banks below on Sunday morning (June 26).
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
All that is known is the women were in their 20s and 30s and were travelling from the Algarve to Spain.
The Nissan jeep apparently veered into the opposite lane of the bridge and overturned before plummeting to the Guadiana river bank at around 11am.
Two women were taken to Faro Hospital, while the other was rushed to Spain’s Huelva Hospital.
