‘Jazz nas Adegas’, an event that brings jazz music into the wine cellars of Silves, is returning this weekend with two sessions at Quinta João Clara in Alcantarilha.
Taking place at 9pm on October 29 and 5pm on October 30, the events will allow visitors to taste João Clara wines while enjoying a live performance by The Tavares Jazz Quartet.
The quartet is led by Fernando Tavares, a pianist who lives in both Toronto and the Algarve and has prepared an “American songbook” of popular jazz tunes. He will be accompanied by Lídia Brandão (vocals), Cris Julian (bass) and Thiago Monteiro (drums).
The remaining wine sessions of 2021 are planned for November 12 and 13 (Pandeiro in Jazz at Quinta Mata Mouros) and November 26 and 27 (Martin Teuscher Quartet at Quinta do Francês).
Tickets cost €15 – including the concert, wine tasting, tapas, a voucher to visit the local castle and archaeology museum and a bottle of wine – and can be purchased online at https://cmsilves.bol.pt or at Fnac, Worten, El Corte Inglés and CTT Correios.
The event is organised by Silves Council with the help of local winemakers, the Silves Sul school group and the Algarve barmen association.
