Jazz nas Adegas April 14 and 15

“Jazz nas Adegas” at Quinta João Clara

The Nuno Carpinteiro Quartet takes the stage at the Alcantarilha winery on April 14 and 15.

The “Jazz nas Adegas” music festival is back on April 14 and 15 at the Quinta João Clara in Alcantarilha. This time, concertgoers will have the opportunity to listen to some original jazz compositions by the Nuno Carpinteiro Quartet as they taste some of the wine producer’s latest vintages.

Born in Mascarenhas, Mirandela, in the North of Portugal, Musician Nuno Carpinteiro started studying the organ when he was eight and discovered the accordion at age ten.

He released his first album, “A Montanha”, in 2019, in which the accordion, acoustic and electric guitar come together in a musical journey through themes of a traditional nature.

The album premiered with the theme that gives it its name, “A Montanha”, on Pico Mountain, in the Azores.

“His creations are rooted in his memories and strong relationship with nature. The simplicity, silence and complex harmony he finds on walks through the countryside are reflected in his compositions”, says a press release issued by the Municipality.

Today, he performs with his Quartet, made up of Diogo Sousa on the drums, João Novais playing the double bass, Sérgio Mendes on the piano and electric guitar, and himself on the accordion.

The concert is organised by the Municipality of Silves in partnership with the participating Silves Wine Producers, the Silves Sul School Group and the Algarve’s Barmen Association.

Tickets cost €20 (including, in addition to the concert, wine and tapas tasting, a voucher to visit Silves Castle and the Municipal Museum of Archeology, and a bottle of wine).

Tickets can be purchased on the BOL platform or at one of the following locations: FNAC, Worten, El Corte Inglés, CTT Post Offices.

The event is for adults aged 18 and over.
