Artist Rachel Ramirez attended the opening of her new exhibition of work at the Galeria Corte-Real in Paderne, where she explained the printing process of gyotaku that she uses in her work to guests at the inauguration.
German artist Ernesto Mies was also present to enlighten visitors about his paintings of the Ria Formosa’s sandbar islands.
Meanwhile, artist Eric Pentecost is attracted to the wild coastline of the Atlantic and specialises in the unique flora and fauna that grows on the cliffs and sand dunes beside the sea, and his works will now be on display at the Galeria Corte-Real.
“When painting you will find me on the edge or at the bottom of cliffs,” said Eric Pentecost, “I revel in strong sunlight and blustery winds.”
His paintings, which have previously been exhibited in Brittany, Guernsey, Cornwall, London and Edinburgh, are expected to be of particular interest to people who admire the west coast of the Algarve.
The works of Eric Pentecost and Rachel Ramirez are among those of more than 30 international artists and artisans on display at the gallery, which is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm.
