PORTUGUESE AUTHORITIES have denied alleged physical abuse accusations from El Solitario, Spain’s most wanted criminal who was captured in July in Portugal and is being held in the Monsanto prison.
Jaime Gimenez Arbe, 51, better known as El Solitario, has denounced the prison in interviews to the Portuguese and Spanish daily newspapers, saying that this facility is the “Portuguese Guantanamo, where human rights are not respected”.
Rui Sá Gomes, the prison’s director, said Mr Gimenez’s complaints were all investigated and considered unfounded.
