New and existing members of International Women in Portugal (IWP) are invited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the association at an activity fair in the gardens of the British Retirement Home in Estoril on September 28.
There will be a wide range of activities plus refreshments to reflect the more than 30 different nationalities of the members.
A spokesman from the IWP said: “We have activities for all ages and interests plus tours, lunches, charity coffee mornings and an informal let’s meet session.”
The IWP was originally founded on September 17, 1991 when 70 women got together at the Hotel Atlântico at Monte Estoril to form a new club.
“When the constitution of the club was written, it was stated that the purpose of the club was to ‘provide English speaking women with the opportunity to express their ideas, utilise their talents and enrich their lives through their contribution to both the club and the larger community in Portugal’ and since then we have had around 3,000 members over the past 20 years,” said the spokesman.
