IVAucher system begins tomorrow but sectors ‘don’t think it will have large impact’

The government’s IVAucher system – designed to help restaurants, accommodation and culture promoters – begins tomorrow, but none of the sectors it has been devised for seem that enthusiastic. Explain reports, “it’s not that businesses don’t believe it will be a help. It will. They simply think it will be ‘insufficient’. A bit of good news yes, but not one that will have ‘large impact’. The idea of IVAuchers is that people can ‘save’ IVA on purchases like restaurant meals hotel bills or visits to the theatre, in order to accumulate this saving and spend it in the autumn, in the same sectors. Says ECO online “it is an extraordinary mechanism created to overcome the effects of the pandemic and encourage consumption, helping professionals and business people in catering, accommodation and culture”.
