IVA-exempt group of basic foods “insufficient” for vegetarians

Even before 0% IVA comes into effect on ‘essential foods’ (ostensibly to help citizens with the rising cost of living) various quarters are complaining that the selection of products doesn’t suit them. The Portuguese vegetarian association, for example, is not content that the list has been expanded to include plant based milks and yogurts, saying there is still not enough on it to give people high nutritional alternative choices (namely seitan/ tofu and pulses). At the same time, warnings have been sounded that this perceived ‘price slashing’ will make very little difference overall to people’s financial outlay.
