Minister for Agriculture Maria do Céu Antunes has denounced the recent Europe-wide study warning against pesticide levels in Portuguese apples and pears, saying the data used was ‘taken out of context’ and the study “was not scientific”. People “can and should continue to eat Portuguese fruit, which is of very good quality”, she said, stressing PAN’s study had not been ‘validated’, and that people would do better to accept the “data available on electronic sites of entities with competence”.
