A BURGER shop on Wall Street in New York has created the world’s most expensive burger costing a massive 175 US dollars.
The gourmet burger used to cost 150 US dollars but has been raised because of the increase in price of truffles.
However, sceptics believe the real reason was because another burger was topping the list of most expensive burgers determined by online newsletter Pocket Change, a survey of all things costly in New York.
Between 20 and 30 burgers are sold each month at the eatery compared to hundreds of the regular four US dollar burgers sold monthly.
Justifying the cost of the burger, the creator and co-owner of the Wall Street Burger Shoppe, Kevin O’Connell, described the burger as being made of a Kobe beef patty, lots of black truffles, seared foie gras, aged Gruyere cheese, wild mushrooms and flecks of gold leaf on a brioche bun.
To complement the high price burger, O’Connell suggests pairing the dish with a selection of fine wines or a lager.
The burger epitomises the Wall Street way of life, one day you are eating burgers for four dollars and the next day you celebrate with ultimate show of decadence by blowing the budget on the gourmet burger.
