Israeli pianist Ido Zeev announced for debut concert of Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve

The debut concert of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve (SOA) on October 1 at Teatro das Figuras in Faro, at 9pm, has had a change of soloist for the Tchaikovsky Piano concerto, said the directors of SOA Association.

Kristina Miller, the Moscow-born pianist of Russian-German descent, was originally announced for the debut concert but is unable to join the orchestra “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

However, say SOA directors, “it is with great pleasure and gratitude that we announce that the young Israeli artist Ido Zeev will be performing with the orchestra instead on this special night. The rest of the programme of favourite, familiar and moving film scores from the pens of John Williams and Ennio Morricone will remain unchanged.”

The second night, on October 2, offers opportunity to hear the internationally-acclaimed accordionist Gonçalo Pescada at the Palácio de Congressos do Algarve in Herdade dos Salgados, Albufeira, at 9pm.

Tickets for Teatro das Figuras cost €18 or €20 and are available online through BOL.

Tickets for Palácio de Congressos do Algarve cost €10 and are available at the venue on the night, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, or from Galeria Municipal João Bailote, Albufeira, weekdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 7pm).
