Irish visitors enjoy Santo Estevão sports complex

A party of 30 from the Ratoath Harps FC, County Meath, Ireland recently enjoyed a short break in the Tavira area.

Last Sunday, tour organiser Kate Else arranged a 5-a-side football tournament at the newly created sports complex in Santo Estevão. Members of the SC Olhanense East Algarve British Supporters, together with a number of local youngsters, provided the opposition.

In the final, Ratoath Harps ‘A’ Team won 2-1 after extra-time. Following the game, all players and spectators retired to the village for refreshments.

A Ratoath Harps club spokesman said: “We’ve had a marvellous time and the people of Santo Estevão have been so hospitable. We’ll certainly be coming back.”
