Irish Pub robbed  in Vilamoura

A large sum of money was stolen from the Irish Pub in Vilamoura on Sunday, May 10, in a robbery that went undetected until the staff arrived for their first shift the following day.

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, 30,000 euros was stolen from the bar’s safes, although the till and drinks were untouched.

A GNR spokesman told the Algarve Resident: “We cannot confirm the amount of money that was declared to have been stolen from the robbery.” He added: “The GNR is now investigating the case and I can confirm that the windows and doors of the establishment did not show signs of forced entry.”

Nobody from the pub was available for comment by the time the Algarve Resident went to press on Wednesday.
