An Irish couple were rescued from the sea at Cabanas de Tavira beach after being swept away by strong currents last Friday afternoon.
Other bathers noticed the couple, in their 50s, were having trouble swimming back to shore and went to their rescue.
The heavy swells last weekend resulted from Levant easterly winds.
