A new route from Irish airline Aer Lingus between Faro and London Gatwick was officially inaugurated at Faro Airport on Sunday, April 26.
To celebrate the event, Francisco Pita, head of marketing at Faro Airport, and Aisling Lyons, the commercial director of Aer Lingus in Portugal, travelled on the first flight from the Algarve to London.
Aer Lingus already operate three routes from the Algarve, all to Ireland.
Aisling Lyons said: “We are very excited about the opportunity for our company to grow in both the Algarve and London. This is a huge step forward for Aer Lingus and this year our passenger numbers to Faro are set to increase by 430,000.”
